'At Hargicourt, west of Bellicourt on night 26th-27th September 1918, he was in charge of the ammunition supply to a forward battery position, which was to be occupied by his battery. On the outskirts of Hargicourt a heavy enemy barrage was placed on the road, resulting in heavy casualties to drivers and horses. Owing to his cool courage and control, the ammunition was safely delivered at the seleted position.'
