Meritorious Service Medal 'For devotion to duty. This N.C.O. during the operation East of Amiens, from August to October 1918, was Sergeant in charge of the Despatch Rider Section and carried out the duties with conspicuous ability, foresight and entire disregard to anything but efficiency of the service and care of his men. He furnished an admirable example of hard work regardless of time and conditions and, as a result, maintained a consistently good O.R. Service under extremely difficult conditions.'
