Military Medal 'This man was one of a working party in front of MESSINES on the night 7th/8th June 1917. A party of infantry retiring from the line broke up the formation, and Sapper PEARCE lost touch with his own party but joined the infantry who were rallied by one of their Officers. Together with this party he carried ammunition to the front line. His conduct and splendid example under fire was notified to his Company Commander by the Infantry party concerned.'
