Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack. He handled his company brilliantly, and captured five machine guns and crews without loss to his company. He also made a personal reconnaissance, with the result that he captured 120 prisoners. Next day he sent forward a patrol, which captured three machine guns and sixteen prisoners. He did splendid work.'
