War service: marched in to Divisional Troops Depot, Tel el Kebir, Egypt, 9 July 1916. Marched out to 1st Light Horse Training Regiment, 24 July 1916. Transferred to Field Squadron, Moascar, 26 August 1916; taken on strength, 1st Field Squadron Engineers, Romani, 26 August 1916.

Admitted to 21st General Hospital, Port Said, 23 November 1916 (foreign body in eye); transferred to 14th Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 27 November 1916.

Rejoined 1st Field Squadron Engineers, El Arish, 16 February 1917. Appointed Lance Corporal, 13 March 1917. Reverted to Sapper at own request, 14 October 1917. Appointed Driver, 19 November 1918.
